First United Methodist Church recognizes and is humbled by both our significant opportunity to be located at the heart of the city, as well as the calling that God has on us as a church body to love Him and love our neighbors as we care for those in need. We are dedicated to facilitating relational ministry within our neighborhood and greater Shreveport community for the growth of the Kingdom. We believe that lives are transformed by the Holy Spirit when we know each other.

WE INVITE YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN

In addition to these opportunities, Monday-Friday our Serving Ministries department and our Welcome Desk Volunteers work to assist our neighbors by welcoming and conversing with those in need and helping to direct them to the best possible partner-agency for their situation (food banks, shelters, etc). We financially support Centerpoint/221 with monthly funding that provides rent, utility, and bus ticket assistance to our community. Clothing vouchers, gas cards, and Wal-Mart cards are also available for visitors who have emergency situations.
GRANTS
And every year, First Methodist also supports 15-17 agencies and ministries with our Community Grants Program. Our monthly City Saturday ministry is also designed to introduce people to these partners and provide volunteers to their work in our city.
