First Methodist Kids The wise man built his house upon the rock, The wise man built his house upon the rock, The wise man built his house upon the rock, And the house on the rock stood firm. This old children’s classic song was inspired by Jesus’ parable about the men who built their homes on two different foundations. However, do you remember the fate of the foolish man’s house later in the song? The point is that if your life is going to stand, then you need to build it on the right foundation—and that’s the Word of God! Jesus is the rock in other passages, but in this parable, the rock is the Word of God. Children’s Ministry recognizes the importance of a firm foundation of biblical content in its programming and study.
God’s word has much to say about kids. Many passages refer to children, speak of ministering to children and give directions or promises to children. Therefore, it is very important that we mold our ministry to them.
Do you immediately picture church when you hear Children’s Ministry? Many of us, too often do. But Children’s Ministry takes place in the home as well as in the church. In fact, the home is the primary place that ministry to children must occur. That is why the Family Ministry and Children’s Ministry work closely together in order to place the importance of the home being the place to start.
